Green Moon
Green Moon is a planting moon.
While the name “Green Moon” is not on any official moon names list, I think it’s still an appropriate name and gives added meaning to full moons anytime a farmer or gardener sets out to plant.
When a moon is waxing towards a full moon before it begins to wane, it has a downward energy. This green moon is for crops that develop underground such as beets, carrots, and potatoes. It’s a good time as well to transplant plants because of the downward pulling energy that encourages root growth and also the moisture content in the soil is higher. It is also said that planting seeds while waxing closer to a full moon results in a higher germination rate.
This moon has a half-moon white agate that I set on a horizontal line to symbolize that downward pull. The half moons that we see in the night sky are of course angled differently!
